New Year Uke Resolutions

What better way to start the new year than getting your uke on?

Here are our top ten suggestions and together, we can make 2023 the year of the ukulele!

1. Learn four chords and play as many songs as you can find using them.

2. Don’t be too hard on yourself, the quickest learners are the ones who aren't afraid to make mistakes.

3. Keep a chart of how many days in a row you pick up your ukulele and strum it.

4. Decide on your all-time favourite top five songs and learn to play them on your uke.

5. Learn a new chord each week or push yourself further and learn some alternative fingerings.

6. Record yourself playing your ukulele. Start by filming yourself on your phone and when you’re happy with the results, try posting your videos on social media.

7. Play a song from your favourite decade.

8. Save up and start looking for your dream ukulele.

9. Write your own song – begin with a favourite chord pattern, add some lyrics, and start creating your own music!

10. Sign up for an open mic or schedule a "performance" of a song you're working on.

Finally, play with other people as much as possible, join a local group, busk with your mates in town, or play in a care home.

Wherever people hear ukuleles, smiles are spread, fun is had, and friends are made!

Happy Strumming 🙂
