UKULELES UNANIMOUS - Learn to Play the Easy Way!
Want to know how to play the ukulele from scratch? Try out our easy lessons, simple songs and beginner tutorials. All designed with you in mind.
Our mission is to help teach ukulele to as many people as possible!
Who are we?
We started off as a small group of teacher friends, meeting in pubs and clubs. We sang, played our ukes and had a blast! We loved the sound of the ukulele, its power to spread joy and the feeling of belonging to a group of people having fun.
That was twelve years ago! These days the website and blog is run by myself, my son and whoever I can get to help me out.
A bit about me …
Hi, I’m Gill.
I learnt to play guitar as a child. Then one day, about forty years later, I went along to a music festival with a friend and got persuaded to take part in a ukulele workshop.
Well, that was it, I was hooked!
To date, I have adopted seven ukuleles (the seven wonders of my world) - I must write a blog about them one day!
As a teacher, I have always loved teaching guitar and ukulele to children. I especially enjoyed running the school lunchtime ukulele club and looked forward to it as much as the kids!
Now retired, I live near York. I am no expert, but I do have a bit more time on my hands to share what I know with all of you.
Because I am relatively new to ukulele myself, I’ve still got loads to discover and will try and get everything I learn onto The Uke Blog for you. Here are some of the lessons I’ve shared so far.
And guess what? There is still so much more to come!
I try and keep things short, simple and fun, because that’s how I learn best. You’ll find lots of top tips and easy next steps, specially designed with us beginners in mind.
Thank you
I would just like to say a massive THANK YOU to everyone who has supported Ukuleles Unanimous so far.
Especially:
➡️ Dave from Ukulele Go! Who may not realise it, but encouraged me to keep going, when I was just starting out.
➡️ Norine Mungo from Beginner Ukulele Hints & Tips who is an absolute angel and helped me to get The Uke Blog off the ground.
➡️ And Jake Shimabukuro who has been my inspiration. I once had the pleasure of meeting him, he signed my uke and I couldn’t stop staring at it for days!
If you have any questions, or just want to get in touch, you know where I am.
Happy Strumming 😊
Gill x
