I Can’t Get No Satisfaction
This top 1960s riff is instantly recognizable and with only three notes and three chords, it’s really easy and sounds great on the ukulele.
The Riff:
Starting with the riff, you only need three notes for this one: B, C# and D, all on the first string.
Play each note slowly and clearly to start with:
B (2nd fret) – B
B – C# (4th fret) – D (5th fret)
D – D – C#
B – B
Then, try it a bit faster:
B – B
B – C# – D
D – D – C#
B – B
TOP TIP: For the best effect, slide back down the notes on the fretboard instead of playing them separately.
Because you only need three notes, one string and one finger, this riff frees you up to concentrate on the rhythm, which let’s face it, is what it’s all about!
The Chords:
Play along with these three chords for a great accompaniment to your introductory riff to ‘I Can’t get no satisfaction’.
TOP TIP: Just strum the ‘A’ chord once quickly before returning to ‘E7’.
And Finally….
To pump it up even more, add a bit of chuck strumming or hammering on and off and the chords will really start to come into their own. You know you’re playing it right when you start to imagine Mick Jagger jumping around the stage to it!

Happy Strumming 😊
